LK LIGHTNING NAMES MCKENZIE BAER AS PROGRAM’S FIRST PITCHING COACH

A standout pitcher throughout her playing career, Baer played her high school softball at Shade High School before continuing her collegiate career at West Liberty University. Her playing experience, knowledge of the position, and passion for developing young athletes make her a natural addition to the LK Lightning coaching staff.

Baer is excited for the opportunity to give back to the game and help the next generation of pitchers grow both on and off the field.

The program’s new pitching coach expressed her excitement about joining the organization.

“What it means for me to be working with LK pitchers is an honor I am beyond grateful for. I have grown up loving the game of softball and played any chance I could get. Now, I get to give back to the girls in hopes they will love the game as much as I do. It is so rewarding to watch these girls progress and succeed as competitors on the field and as individuals off the field. I am excited for this opportunity to help the talented LK pitchers develop with proper fundamentals, an improved mentality and pitcher IQ, and the skills to become a successful pitcher. LK Lightning softball is truly a great organization that cares about the girls and helps them prosper as athletes.”

LK Lightning Founder and President Kevin Landis said bringing Baer into the program was an easy decision.

“Naming the program’s first pitching coach was an easy choice for me. I watched McKenzie grow up and competed against her time after time, and there are just some things you cannot coach, and McKenzie has what I am looking for. Heart, desire, determination, patience, experience, and she will be a perfect role model for our pitchers to learn from. After completing her college career, stepping into a full-time coaching role was a logical step for her, and LK Lightning is lucky to have her!”

The addition of Baer represents another step in LK Lightning’s commitment to providing its athletes with specialized instruction and opportunities to develop every aspect of their game.

As the program’s first dedicated Pitching Coach, Baer will help all pitchers throughout the program with pitching development. She will be working with athletes to develop sound fundamentals while also emphasizing the mental and competitive aspects of pitching. Additionally, she will be coaching her own 12U team, as well as playing on the program’s first ever 23U team.

LK Lightning welcomes McKenzie Baer to the coaching staff and looks forward to the impact she will have on the program and its pitchers for years to come.
